A search for a drowning victim at Chester Frost Park was canceled about noon Wednesday when rescuers determined that no evidence existed that a drowning occurred, officials said.
Crews started searching Tuesday when officials were told a man may have had a boating accident, according to a news release.
Several campers at Chester Frost Park reported at 10:45 a.m. that they saw someone in the lake clinging to a life jacket and yelling for help.
They pursued him with their own boat, but didn’t find him, the release stated.
Hamilton County Emergency Services spokeswoman Amy Maxwell said several agencies assisted with the search, including Volunteer State Rescue, Special Tactics and Rescue Services, Chattanooga-Hamilton County Rescue and Tug Boat USA.
