Understandable mistrust

Some observers have been surprised to learn that, according to a recent Pew Research Center survey, the American people’s trust in Washington is roughly 22 percent. But considering Washington’s performance, what’s surprising is that trust in our Democrat president and Democrat-controlled Congress isn’t even lower.

In the face of strong public opposition, Congress passed ObamaCare socialized medicine, and the president signed it into law. Now, Democrats admit that ObamaCare won’t cut costs after all.

But rather than pull back from controversial, harmful legislation, Democrats are pushing costly “anti-global-warming” schemes as well as amnesty for illegal aliens — hoping to get those proposals approved before they face potentially high losses of congressional seats in November elections.

Is it any wonder that the American people have very little trust that Congress and the president will do the right thing?
