Two nights of old-time music are on tap in North Georgia at Bluebird Holllow Farm this weekend.
Willow Creek Quartet, a Southern gospel group from Ringgold, Ga., will sing tonight at the Dinner Bell Roundup. Saturday evening, Mountain Cove Bluegrass Band will open for the popular Dismembered Tennesseans at the LaFayette farm owned by Ray and Charlotte Burnfin.
Fletcher Bright, co-founder of the Dismembered Tennesseans, said this will be the group’s first performance at a Roundup.
“We’re looking forward to it. Laura Walker will be singing songs from her latest CD, which includes “Summer of My Dreams” and “Homegrown Tomatoes,” said Bright.
“Brian Blalock will be singing songs from his latest CD, “Worried Man Blues,” and Bob Martin will sing “Rank Stranger” from his CD yet to be recorded,” Bright joked.
Other performances by the Tennesseans will include Dr. Ed Cullis’ rendition of “Hamilton County Breakdown” on his banjo and “East Texas Waltz” played by Bright on the fiddle.
Charlotte Burnfin said these are the first of several concerts that are being planned throughout the summer and fall until the weather gets too cold for the outdoor events. The concerts are held in a 5,700-square-foot pavilion on the property.
She said metal folding chairs will be available, but concertgoers may bring their own folding chairs if they wish.
Ray Burnfin is the host of “Dinner Bell Roundup,” a weekly radio program on LaFayette AM station WQCH 1590. The show went on air in January 2007.
The farm is in Broomtown Valley, a scenic drive five miles southwest of LaFayette.
