Two youth jazz bands and two big bands of area professional musicians will perform Saturday night in an outdoor concert.
Jazz bands from Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School and Lakeview Middle School will present “Rampage Under the Stars” in the Northwest Georgia Bank Amphitheater beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday.
“We are using this concert as an outreach to the community to provide an evening of entertainment for area families while supporting the band program,” said Rich Stichler, LFO director of bands.
“The music will include a variety of swing, big-band, contemporary, rock and funk,” he said, adding that faculty members and student vocalists will be featured.
Joining them will be the Uptown Big Band and Sweet Georgia Sound, two popular big bands whose musicians include LFO alumni, said Stichler, who will direct the high school band. Thomas Blevins will direct the middle-school musicians.
Concertgoers should bring a lawn chair or blanket for seating. There will be a silent auction of items donated by area businesses, and the LFO Band Boosters will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs. A picnic dinner is included in the admission price.
