PIKEVILLE, Tenn. — Bledsoe County pushed across the go-ahead run in the bottom of the third inning and winning pitcher Lydia Ritchie made it stand the rest of the way and the Lady Warriors defeated DeKalb County 4-3 and won the Region 4-AA high school softball championship Wednesday.
Bledsoe County (22-9) is scheduled to host Meigs County in a state sectional on Saturday at 7 p.m. EDT. DeKalb County will play at Central, which edged Meigs County 2-1 in the Region 3 championship game. Sectionals are set for Friday, but Bledsoe County has graduation Friday night.
The Lady Warriors were down by a run after Ritchie gave up three runs in the third, but she started the ensuing rally with a single. Jaclyn Saunders followed with an RBI double. She advanced to third on a groundout and scored the final run on Tiffany Holloway’s sacrifice bunt.
