Hamilton County: Fireworks cause of May house fire

Careless use of fireworks caused a $700,000 house fire earlier this month, authorities said.

Hamilton County Sheriff’s and Tri-Community Fire Department investigators say the cause of a May 18 house fire at 1804 Apple Orchard Trail was fireworks that ignited the roof, according to a sheriff’s release.

When emergency workers arrived on scene, the cedar shingle roof was fully engulfed in flame. Firefighters attempted to put out the fire from inside, but had to evacuate when because of possible roof collapse.

Investigators ruled the event an accident.
