For the second year, Southside merchants will host a Last Fridays on Main art walk, the first of seven scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
Last Fridays on Main will continue the last Friday of each month through November.
Among the highlights is the Art X-tractor housed at Ignis Glass on Rossville Avenue.
“This amazing, interactive machine invites guests to choose three to five pieces of ephemera, place them into a slot, and within minutes a one-of-a-kind piece of art pops out,” according to walk organizers. “Each is a mini masterpiece uniquely reflecting both the artist and the person who chose the materials.”
The Art X-tractor appears at different venues each month, featuring different artists.
In addition to the art stops, Tennessee Bouldering Authority will have a portable outdoor climbing wall set up in the parking lot of the old YMCA on Mitchell Avenue.
