Huesman knows the challenge

UTC football coach Russ Huesman met with the area media Wednesday afternoon to discuss the Mocs’ trip to Auburn on Saturday. Huesman knows the challenge his team faces against the Tigers, which are ranked No. 2 in the BCS standings. Chief among Huesman’s concerns is Auburn quarterback Cam Newton, the leading Heisman contender who is 6-foot-6, 250 pounds and tough to simulate in practice. “He’s pretty good, now. He’s bigger than two of our starting offensive linemen,” Huesman said.

Daily Moss update

No not Kate Moss, the crazy Moss. Yeah, Randy Moss has been officially handed his walking papers from Minnesota, and Vikings head coach Brad Childress described the situation as “a poor decision.” You think coach?

After losing three of Moss’s four games in his return to Minnesota, Childress told the AP, “When it’s not right, you need to make it right.”

UTC picked third in SoCon division

John Shulman’s Mocs basketball team was picked to finish third in the Southern Conference’s North Division. That sounds about right. Somewhere in the middle for a team that in truth we don’t know a whole lot about heading into the season. One thing we do know, though, is the Mocs and Lady Mocs will have exhibition games Thursday night at McKenzie Arena.
