The Lee University theater program will present the romantic comedy “Almost, Maine” by John Cariani over the next two weekends.
Daniel Buck will direct the show, his first production as a new Lee faculty member.
The story is set in a small Maine town in the dead of winter. Under the spell of the Northern Lights, citizens find themselves falling in love in unexpected and hilarious ways. The play takes place in nine short scenes and features 17 actors.
The Wall Street Journal named the show one of the best regional theater productions of the 2004-2005 season, and it was described by The New York Daily post as “Thornton Wilder crossed with ‘The Twilight Zone.'”
Evening shows start at 7:30 tonight, Saturday and Nov. 12-13. A Sunday matinee is scheduled at 2 p.m. Nov. 14.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for senior citizens, $5 for children and students. The Dixon Center box office, 1053 Church St., NE, is open 3-6 p.m. Monday-Friday.
