Bus driver charged after hitting child

Chattanooga police have filed charges against a church bus driver who struck an 8-year-old child in October.

William Ingram was charged with a driver’s license violation, failure to immediately report the crash and letting passengers exit the bus while in motion, according to a police release.

Police say Ingram drove the Hickory Valley Baptist Church bus that struck the child on Oct. 20 at 1507 Hickory Valley Road.

The child was treated for injuries, released from the hospital and is recovering at home.

Ingram has a court date scheduled for Nov. 22 at 8:30 a.m. in Hamilton County General Sessions Court.
