Borromeo String Quartet in Cleveland, Chattanooga

Staff Report

The Borromeo String Quartet makes two high-profile stops in the area next week. Wednesday, the critically acclaimed musicians will offer the next performance in the Presidential Concert Series at Lee University. Thursday, they’ll perform as part of the String Theory chamber music concert series at Hunter Museum of American Art.

Combining the sounds of the violin (Nicholas Kitchen and Kristopher Tong), viola (Mai Motobuchi) and cello (Yeesun Kim), the quartet will explore the music of Beethoven, Bartok, Schoenberg, Shostakovich and Golijov.

Additionally, the quartet has long-standing residencies at the Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum in Boston, the Tenri Cultural Institute in New York and the Dai-Ichi Semei Hall in Tokyo. The foursome has been the quartet-in-residence at the prestigious New England Conservatory of Music for 17 years.
