Have a Coke and a smile Sunday at Chattanooga Market where market organizers are holding the annual Coca-Cola Collectors Day.
“This Sunday will be a sea of red and white in First Tennessee Pavilion,” said Melissa Siragusa, market spokeswoman. “There will be several booths filled with Coca-Cola memorabilia available for purchase or just for your enjoyment.”
Siragusa said market visitors are encouraged to bring in their own Coke mementos for free appraisals.
“Coca-Cola is one of the longtime sponsors of Chattanooga Market, and this is our day to give tribute to one of Chattanooga’s classics,” she said.
She added that the day’s sponsor, North River YMCA, will hold a silent auction of themed baskets to benefit its Strong Kids Campaign.
Market visitors can browse the Coke displays while listening to the music of Blake Guthrie of Atlanta and Julianna Finch.
Guthrie performs both as a solo singer/songwriter and with the Atlanta rock band Getaway Car.
He has been playing professionally for more than a decade. One of his first gigs was at the 40 Watt Club in Athens, Ga., opening for alt-rock legend Frank Black.
He has also shared the stage with John Mayer while Mayer was a rising star. The two young songwriters worked the door together at Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, Ga., where they staged the all-male singer/songwriter night Willis Fair in response to the all-female Lilith Fair. Kristian Bush of Sugarland also was part of that show.
Juliana Finch was raised in the South, in an Italian-American family, listening to Irish music. Her music is a mix of all those influences, according to a market news release.
