Exercise and help others Thursday

Two organizations have made it a tradition to help work up appetites on Thanksgiving morning.

* Grateful Gobbler Walk: This 11th annual event benefits the Chattanooga Regional Homeless Coalition.

The event will begin and end at Coolidge Park, starting at 8 a.m. The full course spans about 3 miles.

To register, visit www.gratefulgobbler.org.

* Turkey Trot: Serious runners take part in this 8K race for the Kidney Foundation of the Greater Chattanooga Area, although a Kiddie K, 1-mile fun run and 3-mile walk make it a family affair. Dogs are welcome too.

Online registration closes Tuesday. On-site registration starts at 7 a.m. Thursday at Sports Barn East, 6418 Lee Highway. Races start at 9 a.m.

Entry fees are $20 in advance, $22 day of for the 8K, $15 and $17 for the Kiddie K.
