The Arts & Education Council invites students in grades K-12 to submit their original works of prose and poetry to the 12th annual Young Southern Student Writers competition.
Entries are due Dec. 15.
More than 4,000 students from 55 schools entered the 2010 contest. Of those, 391 were selected as winners. Entries are judged by faculty of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga English Department.
“The AEC’s Young Southern Student Writers program works with teachers to encourage students in the literary arts, in addition to helping inspire students to read and write,” said AEC Executive Director Susan Robinson.
The maximum length is 1,000 words for prose entries and 50 lines for poetry. Entries must be submitted through the student’s teacher.
Complete entry guidelines are online at http://ArtsEdCouncil.org. For more information, call 267-1218.
