Shameful $$ irresponsibility

For many years, our national leaders have led us in shameful national financial irresponsibility, and are continuing to do so.

You know what would happen to you and your family if you spent more each year than your income.

But our federal government is spending much more each year than our high taxes cover, adding to the national debt year after year, mortgaging our future.

The national debt, so far, is $13.8 trillion!

Tax collections this year are expected to be far in excess of $2 trillion.

The “average” citizen’s share of the debt is more than $44,000!

We’re not ready or able to pay that now, are we?

Well, it’s going up, adding to our problems!

The government is spending about $3.8 trillion.

But that’s more than $1 trillion beyond what today’s too-high taxes will bring in.

That means the national debt will go up, and the interest we have to pay will go up.

Do you believe our president and a majority of Congress are being “responsible” and serving “us” well?

A special “bipartisan commission” is coming up with ideas to tell us how to cut federal deficits over the next few years.

But do you believe that the president, Congress – and we, the taxpayers, will demand that our country do whatever the commission suggests?

Or will we let our officials continue to try to “buy our votes” by spending too much, putting us deeper into debt?

There is no “easy” answer, of course. But there is an answer: Quit spending more than we are ready to pay in taxes.
