Peanut’s Carpet House in Dalton, Ga., received “heavy damage” to a portion of its Chatsworth Highway facility, authorities said.
“I don’t know what type of material was burning, but [responders] did report when they left that is was a 300 [foot] by 800 [foot] area … that had heavy damage,” said Victoria Caylor, a shift supervisor for Whitfield County Emergency Services.
She said authorities first received a call at 3:35 p.m. Monday, and it was not until 7:41 p.m. until the first fire engine left the scene. But, Caylor said, the fire was “under control” by 4:59 p.m., “meaning that it was not going to burn any new material.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation, she said.
