Building the future is painfully hard
The road stretched ahead as I raced home; luckily, I still had a job. Suddenly signs said “roadwork ahead,” “grooved pavement,” “uneven lanes,” and finally, a sign all can get behind, “end roadwork.” Delays, inconvenience, annoyance, why not end that? But do we really want an end to roadwork? Let roads rot away?
Some say government money is my money, and they want me to keep it! But without the road I can’t work and my boss won’t give me my money. What’s wrong with him? Still, if it is my money, why isn’t my picture on it? I’d like that, but who would take it?
Others say I can fix the road myself. But one man with few tools and a bucket of asphalt wouldn’t last long on that road.
Still others shout: “Give me my country back.” Why not shout: “Give me my youth back.” Just won’t happen, can’t go back. Anger’s no help; we move ahead and need to manage changes in ways we like. Our problems are real and road-warriors don’t last long.
We need real ideas, not slogans. Tearing down is easy; building the future is painfully hard.

Knowles shows party matters
I guess if Missy Crutchfield’s father had become a Republican there would be no flap abut her. I guess we now know why Bill Knowles changed parties. It seems the county sees no need to check into Alan Knowles using work time to carry on his endeavors.
I always heard from childhood a bad Democrat makes a good Republican. I guess this proves it.
Please, Hamilton County officials and city officials, do not insult our intelligence by saying party has nothing to do with it. It does.

Study history of early church
The following rant was in your Sunday paper: “What makes the media think that Christians care what the pope is doing.”
The writer apparently does not consider Catholics to be Christians, which is indicative of a person lacking in knowledge of the history of Christianity and the early church.
I assume that what the media chooses to write about a particular church leader is based on its current significance. Surely the writer is not just anti-Catholic.
