BARK IN THE PARK
At the third annual Bark in the Park, money will be raised in a fun competition between pooches resembling the University of Tennessee’s bluetick hound mascot, Smokey, and the University of Georgia’s bulldog mascot, Uga. Saturday also is a football game day between the Vols and Bulldogs.
Money raised will be used to support the membership-only dog park. Members pay $50 per family.
Though Heritage Park is at no charge, membership is required for the dog park.
The free event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature vendors, demonstrations, contests and raffle prizes.
PAWS IN THE PARK
On Sunday, Paws in the Park will raise money for HES’ Getting to Zero campaign to end animal overpopulation in Chattanooga and Hamilton County.
Registration begins at 1 p.m., and each individual walker will receive a goody bag that includes a T-shirt, pooch bandana (unless walking unaccompanied) and miscellaneous treats.
After the Blessing of the Dogs, participants and their canine pals will walk a 1-mile trail on the Baylor campus. A live band will set the rhythm.
