Chattanooga’s United Way campaign is off to an excellent start this year, seeking to raise substantial funds from generous givers to do many good works for our people throughout our wonderful community.
This year’s hard-working volunteer United Way campaign chairman is Dr. Bill Stacy. He was able to report this week that pledges totaling $4.4 million have been received toward the “stretch” goal of $11.8 million.
Chattanooga long has had an admirable record of community generosity, meeting its United Way (and predecessor Community Chest) goals for 88 years!
The money promotes our people and our whole community by helping the really needy and fighting many dread diseases through social service organizations that provide a wide variety of important services.
“We seem to be setting a faster pace this year,” Stacy enthusiastically reported, with 37 percent of the goal pledged.
The many generous givers and the many volunteer United Way workers deserve commendation as they seek to advance the welfare of all the people of our wonderful Chattanooga community.
