The man charged in a home invasion was caught by police shortly after the alleged crime.
DeAngelo Justice, 20, was seen by police Sunday night walking in the area of 2000 North Chamberlain Ave.
Justice fit the description of a suspect who’d just robbed a couple at in their apartment at 1904 Burton Ave., said Jerri Weary, a Chattanooga police spokeswoman.
He was in possession of a sawed-off shotgun and a 9mm pistol both, she said, adding the couple told police the man who entered their apartment had those weapons.
According to the victims, they were asleep in bed when they awoke and found a black male standing over their bed. Justice ordered one of them to handcuff the other while he took their money, police said.
Despite his face being partially covered by a mask, the victims said they recognized the suspect as someone who lived down the street from them, Weary said.
Justice has been charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated assault and felony possession of a firearm.
