A cast of 25 dancers and musicians, topped off by a trio of Irish tenors, will bring a bit of the Emerald Isle to Athens, Tenn., on Tuesday.
National Dance Company of Ireland’s Rhythm of the Dance, a two-hour dance and music extravaganza, is the second performance in the Athens Area Council for the Arts’ Big Time/Small Town Performance Series.
“Rhythm of the Dance is a 1,000-year-old journey executed with all the advantages of the modern-day stage show,” according to a news release from museum officials.
The show is an inspiring epic, reliving the journey of Irish culture throughout history.
Using modern art forms of dance and music, this richly costumed show marries the contemporary and the ancient, combining traditional dance and music with the most up-to-date stage technology.
Rhythm of the Dance is internationally rated as one of the most popular and busiest Irish step-dance shows in the world.
Tickets will be sold at the door, as available, but are $2 cheaper when purchased in advance. They are available by phone, online or at The Arts Center, 320 N. White St., in Athens.
Season tickets, which include this and three more shows, are priced at $50 per individual, $90 per couple, $125 for immediate families.
