More schools dismiss early due to incoming storms

The number of schools dismissing for incoming bad weather continues to climb, according to area officials.

School officials in Grundy, Franklin and Sequatchie counties say their schools will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. CDT due to incoming storms.

Next door in Marion County, officials say all schools will dismiss at 1 p.m. CDT to avoid the bad weather.

Bledsoe County schools are dismissing at 12:45 p.m. CDT.

Hamilton County Schools will dismiss 30 minutes early for the incoming storm system, officials said. All afternoon and evening activities are canceled and child care services are closed, officials said.

Sequatchie County Superintendent of Schools Johnny Cordell said the students were going home as a precaution.

“The temperature is around 83 degrees, that doesn’t bode well,” Cordell said. ” We could get some strong winds or pop-up tornadoes. You just never know.”
