Poolside device tracks your calories and laps

Bills, spats, and disappointments. All momentarily forgotten.

For fitness enthusiasts in the middle of a challenging workout, there comes a point when unrelated thoughts pleasantly fade away. The athlete’s focus is on the goal, not the stresses of everyday life.

Momentarily forgetting about finances or family disputes is relieving and can make an athlete feel better after the workout. But loss of concentration can also mean an athlete forgets to note time or distance.

Runners and cyclists using a stopwatch have an advantage. They can simply check the time and guess whether they likely just finished lap seven or eight. Swimmers usually don’t have that timing convenience.

There are gadgets that can be attached the side of a pool and used to count laps. The Finis Lap Track mounts to pool wall tiles so swimmers can mindlessly tap the counter each time they complete a lap.

The Lap Track is 6 by 6 inches and has a large display that tracks split times, calories burned and the number of laps completed.

It also has a daily clock with date and time and a lap counter. There are four mounting options in order to accommodate different pool shapes. It is $74.99 at FinisInc.com.
