With Obama, it’s his way or no way
I can’t believe how some people are so blind to what’s going on in this country.
Some are still hanging on to Bill Clinton and how he left a balanced budget and no wars.
Why don’t they tell the truth. He didn’t do anything when the first Trade Center was bombed.
He didn’t do anything when our sailors were killed in Yemen. Instead, he gave North Korea all that money to stop building nukes, which they didn’t.
He said he would not build up the military, we didn’t need it. When he handed it over to George Bush, he said it’s all your mess now.
When New Orleans was flooded, George Bush called the governor and mayor, offering to help. They said they didn’t need it then. So Bush was blamed for not doing anything, just like blaming the GOP for not doing what Obama wants.
But Obama doesn’t want to hear what they have to say because it’s his way or no way. The Lord is watching. Wake up and listen.

Where’s jubilation as war nears end?
I must have missed the jubilation or even the appreciation the Tea Party members showed over the news that the war in Iraq is finally coming to an end, and our prayers have been answered as our soldiers are indeed coming home.
I know all my prayers and others I have heard since this war began included a plea for God to stop this war and bring our young soldiers home.
As a lay leader once said, we often ask for blessings in our prayers, and when they are answered, we forget to give Him thanks and credit.
We all know why the news is not received with more thanks and jubilation by the Tea Bag-led Republicans. They would have to give our Afro-American president a small part of the credit. “Heaven forbid.”

Term limits key in deVol campaign
Concerned about the direction our country is taking?
I have asked hundreds of folks if having term limits for Congress is a good idea. Overwhelmingly the answer is yes. Not one no.
Mark deVol is an independent is running for Congress. Mark is and has been a Republican all his life. He petitioned the Tennessee Republican Committee to put his name on the ballot running as a Republican candidate in the August primary. When he said term limits was part of his platform, a room full of Republicans (about 500 of them) laughed at him.
That angered Mark, just as it angers me.
Part of Mark’s platform is limiting terms to six years, ensuring the majority of those serving will bring to the policy debate their experiences from the private sector resulting in decisions that are truly in the public’s best interest.
A three-term limit will promote the rise of leadership through results-based competency rather then seniority, a process that reflects most effectively the public’s opinion.
Seniority ruins our politicians and gives them way too much power. Somehow they begin thinking they deserve to be different or special. Their heads swell and so does their net worth.

Block entire Arizona law
The Arizona immigration law is completely ludicrous. The fact that they only blocked some parts of that law made me incredibly mad.
I would have preferred if they just blocked the whole law. It makes me so incredibly mad that a state of the U.S.A. would propose a law like that when our nation is based on equal justice for everyone.
Just because I might look like a Latino doesn’t mean I crossed the border illegally from Mexico to the U.S. Not to mention the fact that I have friends who are Latino and they live in Tennessee just fine. If this law spreads, they could be accused of being illegal even though I know for a fact their families have lived in the U.S. for several generations.

State has law to verify aliens
Tennessee now has an e-verify law, Public Chapter No. 529, which went into effect Jan. 1, 2008. This law threatens business license revocation for employers who knowingly employ an illegal alien (even a single alien). Anyone who knows this is happening is to notify the Labor Department. You must send pictures, name of company and address.
The company may lose its license if it is proven they knowingly hired an illegal.
Let’s put Americans back to work.

Alexander still favors wealthy
Lamar Alexander kicked off his “feed the rich” campaign on Tuesday at the Pachy-nerd club.
At the top of his agenda was tax cuts for the rich. Although he and Bob Corker had been whining about the deficit since the Obama inauguration, he felt spending $700 billion on millionaires is well worth increasing the national debt.
I recommend that he be evaluated at the nearest memory clinic. He doesn’t remember how he enabled Bush to double the national debt in just eight years with two unfunded wars and trillions of dollars in tax cuts for the richest 1 percent of Americans. He also doesn’t remember how these policies in combination with deregulation drove our economy over the cliff.
Alexander continues to cling to the efficacy of “trickle down” economics although this concept was totally discredited by the recent economic meltdown.
Alexander, one of the richest men in Congress, is going to take care of his self interest first. He cares nothing for ordinary Tennesseans and is especially unconcerned for the plight of our state’s poor, sick, uninsured and undereducated. He thinks they can survive on the crumbs that fall from his table.

Obama’s best idea not the way to go
Backed into a corner, you have to fight the hardest. There is no escape. The only hope is to hit back and knock your attacker on his heels.
The recession has Obama and Democrats in a corner. Unemployment has risen. The deficit has skyrocketed. The stimulus has failed by any common sense measure. Health-care reforms are unpopular. People are worried about our direction, and an election is approaching.
Obama needs something to knock the recession on its heels. Now is the time to pull out his best idea. Now is the time to inspire “Hope.” Mr. Obama, what is your plan?
On Labor Day, President Obama, vowing to stimulate a sputtering economy, announced $50 billion long-term investment dollars for our nation’s roads, railways and runways. What? Backed into a corner and needing a victory for our nation and for his party, this is his best idea?
We don’t need more shotgun spending. We’ve got to go back to the basics: government within its proper limits, controlled spending and low taxes.
Obama has shown his trump card. Nov. 2 is our chance to say enough. We don’t want Obama’s ideology. America, it is time to get out of the corner.
