Warehouse Row adds eatery, bar

Warehouse Row has added another eatery to its food court, and a bar also will join the downtown Chattanooga shopping center.

Petunia’s Silver Jalapeno will open in the food market in mid-October, said owner Virginia Cofer.

“We like the direction it’s headed now,” said Cofer about the Market Street center. “We love the downtown area, and we love to be part of that growing area of downtown.”

She said the original Petunia’s on Signal Mountain Road will remain open for now. Plans are to expand the menu at the Warehouse Row unit, the owner said.

Cofer, a partner in the venture with Laura Powell, cited the restaurant’s specialties such as fish tacos and Petunia’s Smoked Butt, a barbecue pork sandwich served on a fresh bun with creamy slaw.

Meanwhile, restaurateur Nathan Lindley will introduce The Social in late September to his Warehouse Row restaurant Public House.

Located next to the restaurant, The Social is to create an atmosphere and mood separate from the eatery. It will incorporate elements of a speakeasy with a street front entrance, large open booths and century-old brick and beams, according to Warehouse Row.

“Warehouse Row has been reinvigorated, providing me with the opportunity to expand Public House to complement the stores,” Lindley said.

Jamestown Properties, an Atlanta-based real estate investment firm, bought Warehouse Row in 2006 after outlet store retailers began leaving.

Jamestown undertook a multimillion-dollar remake of the facility, a group of brick buildings dating back to the early 1900s that were the site of railroad warehouses.
