What: Papa Bear’s Vegetarian Chili has become a house favorite at both the St. Elmo and Red Bank locations, and owner Eve Williams expects the recipe to be just as favored at the newest location on Jenkins Road in East Brainerd. “People just love it, and it’s so popular, I keep it on the menu year-round,” she said. The chili starts with a tomato base, then pinto beans, black beans and kidney beans are added, along with fresh peppers, herbs and onions. Meat lovers can add ground chuck, if they want, Williams said. You can buy it by the bowl or add it to any burrito or a big plate of nachos.
