Man gets neck trapped at construction site, loses consciousness

A man working at a construction site got his neck trapped between two pieces of metal this morning and lost consciousness, police said.

About 7:45 a.m., emergency workers and police responded to Roadtec, a business located at 800 Manufacturers Road, on a job-related injury, according to Chattanooga police spokeswoman Officer Rebecca Royval.

They found Maryville, Tenn., resident and Metal Craft employee Eugene David Blair, 21, with his neck stuck between a railing on a lift and a steel beam, Royval said.

Workers eventually retrieved Blair, who was unconscious, and authorities transported him to an area hospital, Royval said.

Investigators say that Blair’s condition has improved since arriving at the hospital.
