If a politician demands automakers produce much more fuel-efficient vehicles to head off supposed environmental dangers said to be caused by big cars, trucks and SUVs, you might assume that the politician would never think of using any large, inefficient vehicle himself.
But look at Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.
He recently helped convene a “National Clean Energy Summit” at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas.
As “environmentalists” were protesting a lack of progress in protecting the Earth from what they consider to be dangerous use of fossil fuels, including by inefficient vehicles, Reid and a few aides climbed into “a caravan of gas-guzzling SUVs” to drive a hundred yards across a parking lot to the protest, noted The Heartland Institute, a nonprofit, free-market research organization that photographed the event.
There, Reid reassured the protesters “that they and he were on the same team,” Heartland reported.
