Wendy Tippens, a local writer, actress and comedian, brings her one-woman show, “Shades of Red,” to Miss Debbie’s Nightlife Lounge, 4762 Highway 58, tonight and Saturday. The show will begin at 6 p.m with music from the Ancient Age Band, with “Shades of Red” following at 7:30 p.m.

“It’s the show that won’t die,” Tippens said.

“I first performed the show way back in the late ’90s as a favor to my biggest fan, my dad. He wanted me to perform a collection of characters that I had written so that he could film it for posterity, or maybe to play for unsuspecting guests that come to visit. Anyway, after that initial performance, word just kind of spread, and 12 years later, here I am adding characters and performances for an ever-growing fan base. My audience has been amazing. They’re so supportive and loyal and have always been there for me.”

The show has proven so popular with fans, Tippens has recorded a CD (“Confessions of a Trailer Trash Troubadour”) of original songs sung by one of her main characters, Big Bette.

“She’s a self-proclaimed, country and western, musical extravaganza, and now she has the CD to prove it,” Tippens said.

Admission is $10 at the door, $8 in advance. To reserve tickets, call 227-0460.
