After advancing through two phases of competition, Soddy-Daisy High School’s JROTC leadership team will compete in the championship round of the 2011 Army JROTC Leadership Bowl and Symposium in Washington D.C., on the campus of George Mason University, June 24-28.
Soddy-Daisy JROTC is last year’s national champion and will be defending its title. Returning team members are Nick Gooden, Joseph Williams, Monica Cummings and Autumn Morgan.
The event is sponsored by the Army JROTC and conducted by College Options Foundation.
Leadership and Academic Bowl is an academic competition exclusively for JROTC students. During two rounds of competitive online play, Soddy-Daisy’s team earned top scores out of 1,138 teams that competed from around the world. Students were tested on standard high school curriculum including math, science and English. The team is one of 40 leadership teams in the nation to advance to the finals.
