Patel breaks chocolate out of the box

Cinderella’s slippers are even more romantic when lovingly molded out of a natural aphrodisiac. East Brainerd resident and chocolatier Nichelle Patel says she can craft anything out of chocolate, which she does for her clients at The Chocolate Box.

Though she won’t be crafting sweet shoes, as she did for the recent Pink! fundraiser, her booth at the Epilepsy Foundation’s upcoming Chocolate Lovers’ Fling will demonstrate her talent and creativity.

“It’s not your typical chocolate booth. It will be very eye-catching and attractive,” she said of her Passion in Life contest entry. “There are three awards: a blind judges’ tasting, people’s choice and booth. We’d like one; I’m not going to be greedy and say all.”

The event will be held at The Mill downtown April 10 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Once customers find her inside The Cake Boutique, where she set up shop after the first of the year, Patel said they can’t get enough of her creations, which she can make using any flavors and colors of chocolate. She imports chocolate from places like Switzerland and Madagascar.

She mainly offers custom orders, but also keeps a small selection of truffles and chocolate lollipops on hand. Easter orders are now being accepted.
