There’s a message about conservation in every milk jug, and Saturday families can get a visual at the Tennessee Aquarium, 1 Broad St.
From 8 to 10:30 a.m., senior educator Julia Gregory will help participants (ages 6 and up) set up 1,000 1-gallon milk jugs along the stream between the River Journey and Ocean Journey buildings in the Aquarium plaza.
This hands-on illustration of scale will show how tiny drops can impact a large amount of water.
“One of the ongoing threats [to the environment] is pollution that occurs inland, traveling from rivers into the Gulf [of Mexico],” said a news release. “It only takes a tiny bit of oil, gasoline or other chemicals to contaminate 1,000 gallons of water.”
Families will round out the morning activity by stomping the jugs flat for recycling and playing a water conservation game.
