The Dorian Consort, an ensemble founded in Switzerland in 1990, will perform Monday at Southern Adventist University as guests of the School of Music.
The chamber ensemble features seven musicians who “simply love to play together,” according to their press material. Represented are two violins, viola, cello, bass, flute and harpsichord.
The musicians perform baroque, classic and contemporary repertoire. Their program Monday will feature works by J.S. Bach, Arthur Honegger, Edu Haubensak and Frank Martin.
The Dorian Consort tours in Europe, China, the United States and Middle and South America. They have two CDs available.
The visit has been arranged by Heather Small, of the adjunct flute faculty, who hopes “to inspire not only the students but also the community.”
