What were the top five biggest Chattanooga building projects in July?

Construction continues on the Amazon distribution center at Enterprise South.

In July, the city of Chattanooga granted 185 building permits for a total value of $29.2 million. The biggest projects begun last month were:

1. Amazon.com distribution center on Volkswagen Drive, conveyor systems and interior improvements, $7.9 million

2. Carmax Auto Superstores Inc. on Overnite Drive along Interstate 75, footings and foundation and the initial construction contract, $4.15 million.

3. Mellow Mushroom restaurant at 2318 Lifestyle Lane north of Hamilton Place mall, $1.35 million.

4. New medical office building at 3328 Jenkins Road in East Brainerd, $1 million

5. Building upgrades at Valley Psychiatric Hospital, 2200 Morris Hill Road, $850,000
