A recent Gallup poll shows that approval of the job President Barack Obama is doing has fallen to its lowest level since he took office in 2009.

The Gallup survey shows Obama has only 39 percent approval among those polled — with 54 percent expressing disapproval.

Does that mean he will fail to get an electoral majority in the November 2012 election?

That surely depends upon whom Republicans nominate from their current long list of hopefuls, and what the big issues are between now and Election Day. (The economy is certain to be one of those issues.)

The trend certainly is strongly against Obama for the time being. But it is a long time until Election Day.
