UnitedHealthcare of Georgia will present Ringgold High School with a check for $15,000 before tonight’s season-opening football game against county rival Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe at Finley Stadium.
The money will be split between Ringgold’s physical education and health departments, according to athletic director and football coach Robert Akins.
“Since it’s coming from a health care agency, we felt it would be appropriate to use it that way,” Akins said. “It will help the athletic department and all the teams by helping purchase some weight room equipment.”
Akins also said school and county administrators likely will decide next week whether to install an artificial or grass surface on the football field.
The Ringgold-LFO game is the second of this year’s EPB Fiber Optics games of the week on ThisTV. Each week’s game can be seen on WTVC’s 9.2 digital channel and on EPB channel 169, Charter channel 174, Comcast channel 208, Dalton Utilities channel 157 and Bledsoe Telephone channel 41.
A pregame show begins at 7 p.m. with WTVC’s Darrell Patterson as in-studio host. Jim Reynolds will handle the play-by-play with Dave Staley providing commentary.
