Man’s best (and oldest) friend dies

Dogs have been favorite pets of humans, as well as helpers of mankind in too many ways to count, from time immemorial.

But from our animal-loving perspective, a dog’s life is often all too short.

So we note with some amazement that what is believed to be the world’s oldest dog has died — at the unbelievable age of 26 years and eight months.

That is equivalent to about 125 human years!

The dog, a mixed breed named Pusuke, belonged to a Japanese woman.

Not too surprisingly, Pusuke’s cause of death was reported simply as old age.

Be that as it may — and despite the fact that Pusuke apparently died peacefully — we suspect that his bereaved owner wishes he had lived even longer.
