Help prevent death of cranes
Whooping cranes are beautiful birds. They are an asset to our environment. It would be a shame if we let dirty oil kill them off the face of the earth. Please stop this from happening!

Bennett’s poison hits holiday season
Clay Bennett strikes again. In his cartoon on Dec. 18 he cannot even let the Christmas season have a rest from his poison crayons. Apparently he believes that Republicans don’t want peace on earth. Because, as we all know, Republicans are vile, evil, wretched people who want to kill Granny and wax the steps at the old folks’ home, while Democrats are the saviors of mankind and the arbiters of all virtues.
A chicken in every pot and a “program” for all of societies’ ills at the expense of the taxpayer. All Hail Clay Bennett, knower of all, seer of all men’s hearts. Maybe one day the Times Free Press can find someone to contribute who actually has a tiny bit less bias. Finding someone with less bias should be easy. I suggest checking the phone book and selecting any name.

Arts are vital in education
We very much appreciated your editorial “Blueprint for arts education,” Dec. 19. We agree that a child’s education is incomplete without knowledge and experience of the arts. Indeed, the arts are an integral part of civilization.
In addition, the arts foster a broader base and more imaginative outlook. This, in turn, provides an enhanced perspective and lays the groundwork for creative thinking. Professionals need this capability.
We encourage the Hamilton County school board to be diligent in their commitment to arts education, and we support them in their efforts to secure funding for such.

Bennett crosses a sacred line
I was appalled to view the cartoon from the very talented artist, Clay Bennett, from Sunday’s paper depicting a note from the RNC with a Christmas wish.
While I have been a lifelong Democrat and longtime Republican critic, for more reasons than I can count … I nevertheless was horrified to see a cartoon using a verse from the Holy Scriptures (“Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men”) used as a joke. And, this was no mere a joke, but a tasteless and extremely sacrilegious usage of a divinely inspired message of hope for our world.
While I have thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Bennett’s artistic gift in the past, this clearly has crossed the line — a heavy and sacred line.
