Whitfield wants emergency-response volunteers

Whitfield County Emergency Management Agency is looking for volunteers to help start its community emergency response team program.

The program is designed for Whitfield residents to train themselves for emergencies and disasters in the community, an EMA news release states.

The training course is free for residents and consists of three training days. At the end of the training, a mock disaster drill will be held. Participants will then receive community emergency response team certification.

The classes are scheduled for March 12, 13 and 19 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Whitfield County emergency management headquarters at 804 Professional Blvd. in Dalton.

For additional information about the free program, contact Claude Craig, Jeff Ownby or Carla Kelley with Whitfield County 911 at 706-370-4911 or cert@whitfieldcountyga.com.
