Woman burned in East Ridge fire

A 59-year-old woman received first- and second-degree burns Monday in a fire at an East Ridge home.

About 11 a.m. Monday, East Ridge Fire/Rescue and police responded to 500 Bonnie Lassie Ave., said police spokesman Erik Hopkins.

The three occupants of the home already were out when firefighters arrived, he said.

The fire was limited to the bathroom, but a female occupant suffered first- and second-degree burns as well as smoke inhalation and was taken to Parkridge Medical Center, Hopkins said.

Investigators determined that a small space heater in the bathroom caused the fire.

The American Red Cross was notified to assist the family.

Police charge 3 in burglary

Two men and a woman face charges in connection with a home burglary in East Ridge, said police spokesman Officer Erik Hopkins.

Buddy A. Bunch, 34, and Kimberly L. Bunch, 45, both of Ringgold, Ga., and Michael A. Powers, 36, have been charged with aggravated burglary and theft, Hopkins said.

On Sunday, the resident of 1403 Adonna Lane called police after returning home and finding an unknown white truck backed into his driveway and three suspects entering the home, Hopkins said.

Officers arrived and found Buddy Bunch standing in the driveway, Hopkins said, while Kimberly Bunch and Powers were located about two blocks away.

Multiple items from the home with an estimated value of $1,500 were recovered next to the suspects’ truck, Hopkins said.

The three suspects were taken into custody and transported to Hamilton County Jail, he said. They are scheduled to be in East Ridge Municipal Court at 5 p.m. today.

Man charged in car break-ins

An 18-year-old man from Ringgold, Ga., has been charged in connection with series of car burglaries in East Ridge, police say.

Tommy Lovelace was arrested Sunday by Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies, who are holding him for extradition to Tennessee, said Officer Erik Hopkins, East Ridge police spokesman.

The exact charges against Lovelace have not been released.

On Sunday, East Ridge police responded to the New Castle Apartments, at 5700 Roper St., after receiving a call from a resident that someone was breaking into vehicles.

Officers saw a dark, four-door sedan leaving the scene, a car described as the suspect’s vehicle, Hopkins said.

The car was stopped across the state line in Catoosa County and numerous items from the cars in the apartment complex were found inside, Hopkins said.
