Those who want to legalize millions of illegal aliens in the United States often claim that “nothing can be done” to stem the invasion. So, they say, we might as well throw in the towel and put the illegal invaders on a path to U.S. citizenship.
But are we really as helpless as all that? Can a nation that was key to the Allied victory in World War II and that stood firm to win the Cold War against Soviet Communism truly be incapable of fighting illegal immigration?
Of course not!
Commonsense border protection, laws preventing illegal aliens from getting jobs and social services, and prompt detention of illegals who cross paths with law enforcement would go a long way toward winning the battle.
Here is just one small example, from The Salt Lake Tribune in Utah.
The newspaper reported on an illegal alien couple from Mexico who plan, after 18 years in Utah, to return to their homeland. The wife is “tired,” the article said, of having to fear detection by the authorities and of lawmakers considering measures to crack down on illegal immigration. (In fact, the woman faces deportation proceedings for using a false Social Security number.) The story also noted that “as a non-citizen she does not qualify for welfare or unemployment benefits.”
So, she and her husband plan to pull up stakes and go home.
In fact, quite a few illegals are leaving Utah.
“More undocumented immigrants may now be going home than are coming to Utah,” the paper reported. As many as 10,000 illegal aliens are believed to have left the state between 2008 and 2009.
Our nation can win the war against illegal immigration – if we don’t abandon the field of battle by granting amnesty or an undeserved “path to citizenship” to lawbreakers!
