DAVIDSON, N.C. – Bailey Dewart hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer tonight to lift the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s basketball team to a 54-51 win over Davidson at John M. Belk Arena.
The Lady Mocs (8-9, 5-3 Southern Conference) trailed for most of the game and took their first lead with 7:21 to play. The teams then traded baskets down the stretch.
With the game tied at 51, Davidson (5-9, 1-5) had a chance to take the lead but Sophia Aleksandravicius missed a jumper and UTC’s Kylie Lambert grabbed the rebound with 19 seconds left.
Coach Wes Moore called a timeout with 6 seconds left and then Dewart hit the game winner as time expired.
Whitney Hood led UTC with 17 points and Kiara Smith added 9.
