The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga knocked off the top team from the Southern Conference South Division on Monday in McKenzie Arena.
The Mocs next task after dispatching the College of Charleston 91-88 is facing a different team that’s tied for first in the South, the defending SoCon tournament champions, and doing so four hours away from their friendly confines — at Wofford.
“We played the first-place team on Monday and we play another first-place team Thursday,” said Shulman, whose team is 11-8 overall and 7-0 in the SoCon. “They just haven’t pulled off an upset. Their big-boy games were all close, but they didn’t win. But they’re still phenomenal.”
That is the mind-trick — combined with the theme of each game counting the same — that Mocs coach John Shulman used on his team Wednesday before practice in preparation for the tipoff Thursday at 7 p.m. in Benjamin Johnson Arena.
Shulman also ran down Wofford’s lineup prior to practice as well.
