Tennessee suspends McRae for conduct violation

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee has indefinitely suspended freshman Jordan McRae from the men’s basketball team for what coach Bruce Pearl described as a violation of team conduct.

Pearl, in a statement issued late Saturday night, said McRae’s behavior recently has been “unacceptable and a distraction to the team,” but declined to offers specifics.

The Knoxville News-Sentinel reported that McRae practiced with the team at the University of Hartford on Friday, but stayed at the team hotel during the Vols’ 72-61 loss to No. 8 Connecticut on Saturday.

A freshman from Midway, Ga., McRae played three minutes in Tennessee’s 59-57 win at Georgia on Tuesday after not getting playing time in the three previous contests.
