Happy Valentine’s Day!

Welcome to Chatter’s “What We Love” issue. If you’re reading this before Valentine’s Day and haven’t come up with a plan to show your sweetheart you care, this issue is for you! My Valentine of 20 years always makes sure I get cookies. That’s how he won my heart, and a nicely-wrapped bag of the chocolate chip variety still speaks to me.

Occasionally I am surprised with long-stemmed red roses or romantic cards, some with creative and corny poems penned just inside. Valentines don’t need to cost a lot; a few words on a nice card can be perfect. You might delight your Valentine by simply reciting a love poem-it doesn’t have to be an original-on your sweetheart’s voice mail at work while he or she is at lunch. Great valentines don’t have to be innovative. They can include a simple weekend away at a bed-and-breakfast in the countryside, a silk nightgown or pajamas, scented candles, massages or a dinner for two at a favorite restaurant.

For this issue contributing editor Merrell McGinness asked some of Chattanooga’s most popular radio personalities to identify the best-ever songs for dating. We’re not sure we agree with all of their choices, but we think you’ll find the piece fun to read. Kathy Gilbert’s story about modern love-contemporary dating, that is- will give you the lowdown on how dramatically the courting process has changed in recent years, thanks mostly to the Internet. Amber Nagle’s piece identifies the five best venues for a memorable romantic retreat in Northern Georgia.

We hope you enjoy this issue. Happy February, and thank you for spending time with Chatter again this month!
