The new plans for Apison Pike from Old Lee Highway to Ooltewah-Ringgold Road haven’t changed much.
“Based on comments from the [first informational] Feb. 10 meeting, the plans have been adjusted as much as possible without compromising the safety of the project and while still meeting TDOT’s standards,” said designer Robert Braun.
The majority of comments heard at the first meeting were from Branston Road residents and regarded lost trees and landscaping as well as navigability through their neighborhood, which intersects Apison Pike.
The elevation of Apison Pike has since been adjusted to address these concerns. The roadway was set to be lower but will be raised up so that a substantial amount of grading will not be required on Branston Road. The more grading required, the more distance is needed in order to maintain an acceptable slope.
Motorists will not notice any difference with the change of plans, according to officials. Branston Road residents will see about 400 feet less of disturbance to their roadway and neighborhood. Only two properties will be affected under the new plans.
