Photo by Katie WardEdie Alexander, of Lynda Drive in Red Bank, sat back in awe as local church volunteers painted her home.
“I’m on top of the world,” she said. “I want to hug every one of them before they leave. I’m a happy camper.”
She said they did the job for free out of the generosity of their hearts and it means a lot to her.
Sweltering temperatures did not slow down the group of volunteers, who came from as far as Signal Mountain to help out.
“They showed up one day and said we are ready to go to work,” she said. “They did an excellent job.”
Tommy Reese, of Red Bank Church of Christ, said the group spent two days painting the house gray with white trim around the windows. The Sherwin-Williams store in Red Bank donated the paint.
Alexander, who has lived in her house for 45 years, said the 85-year-old English cottage style home was the first one built in the Duncan Hills subdivision.
