Feds OK land swap for school

Red Bank Mayor Monty Millard said Wednesday night the U.S. Department of the Interior has OK’d using property behind Red Bank High School for a new middle school.

The site received federal funding in the 1970s for recreational services, so federal approval was needed to change its use. The school is expected to cost $30 million and construction will take about two years.

“It’s a big step forward,” Millard said.

“We’ve been hoping for and working toward getting a new Red Bank Middle School for many, many years.”
