Water provider ready to help
With Mayor Littlefield talking about regionalization again, it’s important to mention that Tennessee American Water is not interested in selling its assets to the city.
Chattanooga’s water system has been privately owned since its inception in 1856. The forerunner of Tennessee American Water purchased the water company in 1887. American Water has been the water service provider for the city Chattanooga for 124 years. This year marks American Water’s 125th anniversary of service, overall. Through the century-plus years of service, Tennessee American Water has cultivated a vast knowledge in water treatment and service.
We believe a private water utility provides the best value and service to its customers. The average residential customer in the city of Chattanooga pays only $19 a month for water service, and 91 percent of our customers report they are satisfied overall with their water service.
However, we will be happy to talk with the mayor about potential improvements to the city’s aging wastewater infrastructure and how we can possibly provide help.
Tennessee American Water has had a long-standing agreement with the city of Chattanooga to provide quality water service to residents, including annexed additions of the city. We remain dedicated to serving Chattanooga into the future just as we have for the past century.

Check the facts about Obama
When it comes to facts about Obama, I’ll be anyone’s huckleberry. Many tea party defenders write as if they believe their opinions are facts.
Below are facts to ponder that were promised during President Obama’s campaign:
Every month between President Obama’s election and the inauguration, our economy lost hundreds of thousands of jobs. GM and Chrysler would have added to that unemployment, but today they are still hiring more and more Americans.
Insurance companies must cover pre-existing conditions and must cover our children until they are 26 years old.
Osama bin Laden is dead because of a strike ordered by our president and carried out by our Navy Seals without Pakistan’s permission.
A U.S.A.-backed coalition took out Gadhafi without a unilateral war. Tea party taxpayers were saved billions of dollars without sacrificing American lives.
I hope Republicans are learning from the professor. He is teaching them how to steer the ship of state through tempests caused by historical events, manufactured by the right-wing media, and proclaimed by Republicans who, weeks before President Obama’s administration, conspired to sabotage all of his policies.
That last paragraph was my opinion and a true one. Ask Mitch McConnell.
