The Mohawk Industries plant in Dalton was evacuated Monday afternoon after part of a ceiling and a wall in a break area collapsed inside the building.
No one was hurt, but emergency crews responded to a 911 call and the building off Morris Street was evacuated around 2:50 p.m., Dalton Police Department spokesman Bruce Frazier said.
After the building was cleared, inspectors checked the structure and blocked off the affected area, Frazier said. But by 4 p.m., employees were allowed back inside to return to work.
As of Monday afternoon, officials weren’t sure what caused the ceiling and wall to collapse, Frazier said.
